The Luzerne County Fair is proud to announce that all of the funds raised by the Basket Raffle will be donated to The Michael J Cleary Foundation
The LT Michael J. Cleary Scholarship Fund will make it possible for his loving family and friends to honor Mike's memory. The Dallas native and First Lieutenant was killed in Iraq on December 20, 2005 in an ambush by hostile forces having just completed a demolitions mission.
Organizations the Cleary Foundation have supported throughout the years include "Honor and Remember the Flag" campaign by George Lutz, a Gold Star father who created and designed the flag for all those who have given the last full measure for our freedom. www.honorandremember.org

"Operation Snowball" an organization established to work with families who have members deployed to Iraq & Afghanistan www.snowballexpress.com

NEPA Veterans Multicenter an organization comprised totally of volunteers who coordinate benefits for veterans from federal, state and private sources.  The group is currently serving 340 vets in NEPA. www.nepavma.org

"Holistic Seminar for PTDS" conceived by local social worker and hosted by Misrecordia University.

"Hunts For Healing" is a wonderful program started by the owners of Ringneck Ridges and several volunteers, they have partnered with the Injury to Independence program at Walter Reed Hospital and the Wounded Warriors Project to bring wounded vets to beautiful Bradford County to hunt, fish, and meet with the giving folks there who show them the warmth of a grateful country.

Supplied prepaid VISA cards to local families to enable them to visit wounded family members at Walter Reed and Brooke Army Hospital.

II program at Holy Redeemer HS which serves mentally challenged students contributed to the Woman with Children Program at Misrecordia University

As always, our hearts are most gladdened as we pay the utility bills,
insurance payments and other necessary expenses of returning vets as they
try to overcome the hurdles transitioning back into civilian life.

Please send us a color or black and white photo of you or someone you love in their uniform. Photos should be: 5x7 to 8x10
Please include the following information on the back of the photo: name, rank, branch of service and details if they served in a war.
